چکیده

This paper describes a novel technique which has the potential to make a significant impact on the mapping of the human brain. This technique has been designed for 3D full-wave electromagnetic simulation of waves at very low frequencies and has been applied to the problem of modeling of brain waves which can be modeled as electromagnetic waves lying in the frequency range of 0.1–100 Hz. The use of this technique to model the brain waves inside the head enables one to solve the problem on a regular PC within 24 hrs, and requires just 1GB of memory, as opposed to a few years of run time and nearly 200Terabyte (200,000 GB) needed by the conventional FDTD (Finite Difference Time Domain) methods. The proposed technique is based on scaling the material parameters inside the head and solving the problem at a higher frequency (few tens of MHz) and then obtaining the actual fields at the frequency of interest (0.1–100 Hz) by using the fields computed at the higher frequency. The technique has been validated analytically by using the Mie Series solution for a homogeneous sphere, as well as numerically for a sphere, a finite lossy dielectric slab and the human head using the conventional Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) Method. The presented technique is universal and can be used to obtain full-wave solution to low-frequency problems in electromagnetics by using any numerical technique.

Investigating The Effects of Modem Electromagnetic Waves (2.4 GHz) on Electroencephalogram

With respect to the dramatic increasing use of electronically communicators and wireless modems, concerns have been raised about the possible effects of emitted electromagnetic radiation on human brain. In this paper, the effects of high-frequency wireless modem waves on the brain signal are investigated. To this end, the Electroencephalograph (EEG) recording of 15 volunteers is examined in fou...

Numerical Simulation of Random Irregular Waves for Wave Generation in Laboratory Flumes

Understanding of wave hydrodynamics and its effects are important for engineers and scientists. Important insights may be gained from laboratory studies.  Often the waves are simulated in laboratory flumes do not have the full characteristics of real sea waves. It is then necessary to present reliable methods of wave generation in wave flumes.  In this paper, the results of numerically simulate...

A Study of Bit Condition for Generation Rx -Mode Waves: Interaction of Particles with Z/UH-Mode Waves

Interactions of charge particles with electromagnetic waves have important effects (linear and nonlinear) on the propagation of electromagnetic waves, and it can somewhat play a role in generation of the new mode waves. Besides, the particle energies can play an important role in causing instability in plasma. The values of parallel energy of the particles have been calculated so that they can ...

An Algorithm for Modeling and Interpretation of Seismoelectric Data

Generally speaking, seismoelectric modeling is a prospecting method based on seismic and electromagnetic waves, in which waves generated by a seismic source at the boundary of the two environments generate a relative fluid-solid motion formed as a result of antagonism between the elastic properties of the environment with the saturated fluid. This research has as its objective, a study of the e...

The Effect of Increased Electrical Field Strength of 950 MHz Waves on the EPSP Slope

Introduction: Over the last decade, exposure to electromagnetic waves due to base station antennas has increased. This study was planned to evaluate the effects of different electrical field strengths with 950 MHz waves of the GSM mobile phone system on the excitatory postsynaptic potentiation (EPSP) slope of the dentate gyrus long-term potentiation (LTP). Material and Methods: Twenty four naiv...
